FEATURES

Fabricating and Forming for the Farm Part 1 (pdf 290k)
Part 2 (pdf 225k)

Consolidation among OEMs and their adoption of automotive sourcing practices, a dwindling number of farms, population growth and huge advancements in farming technology greatly affect part production for agricultural equipment.

Mechanical Presses on the Move Part 1 (pdf 189k)
Part 2  (pdf 114k)

When the going gets tough, the tough get going: Over the last few years, the toughest years many stampers have faced, plenty of shops have successfully justified investment in new presses, small and large. Here we present several recent case studies, covering a variety of applications for mechanical presses.

Rollforming Tailored Tubes to Fit Custom Needs (pdf 124k)

Tailored tubes enable designers to customize completely new sections and reduce manufacturing costs.

TOOLING TECHNOLOGY

Sensing a Change (pdf 148k)

As demands from stampers and their customers increase, sensing has moved beyond just providing for tool protection to sophisticated part-quality control, with noncontact measurement leading the way.

In-Die Inspection—A Practical Approach to Complement Lean Manufacturing (pdf 128k)

Take full advantage of the benefits derived from lean manufacturing by engineering quality at the front end of the process--in the die--rather than at the back end, where scrap and rework can eat you alive.

Take our Poll
With the environment a major concern in the United States, and around the world, which of these practical steps is your company taking to address environmental responsibility?
We encourage in-plant recycling and have adopted the use of recyclable products and packaging.
We perform energy audits, and have installed energy-efficient lighting, employed more prudent use of transportation and more energy-efficient processes and machinery.
Our facility has worked to reduce emissions and better prevent pollutants from entering the surrounding air, water and land.
All of the above
There are already enough burdensome regulations for us to worry about. Doing more would only drive up costs.
